NASCAR - Craftsman Truck Series

 

For 2023 (Stanley Black & Decker) Craftsman returned as the primary sponsor of the NASCAR Truck Series replacing Camping World. The Truck Series is a modified production pickup truck racing series of NASCAR. In 1947 Bill France gathered promoters from Southeast, Northeast, and Midwest to the Ebony Bar atop the Streamline Inn in Daytona, and drew up the initial rules and regulations of the modern day NASCAR.- the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. The first "true" NASCAR race, in the division that would lead to the present-day  Sprint Cup Series, and the Nationwide Series was held at the Charlotte (N.C.) Fairgrounds on June 19, 1949.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series

Four off-road enthusiasts, Dick Landfield, Jim Smith, Jim Venable and Frank "Scoop" Vessels, longtime competitors in major truck racing events held in Mexico and in the deserts of the American Southwest, dreamed of moving their favorite sport to asphalt tracks throughout the United States. They commissioned Bakersfield, Calif.-based chassis builder Gary Collins to build a prototype race truck.to show at Daytona Beach, Fla.,during the 1994 trade show held during Speedweeks. This caught the attention of NASCAR and on May 14, 1994. NASCAR President Bill France announced creation of NASCAR Super Truck Series, .

NASCAR LogoOn July 30, 1994. the first of four demonstration races was held at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif. Later in the year a 20-race schedule was released with total posted awards of $1.1 million. The series started on Feb. 5, 1995.with a race run at Phoenix International Raceway. In February 1996. Sears Craftsman becomes the title sponsor of the Truck Series and the series is renamed the Craftsman Truck Series.

Over the years there have been a number of pit rules including scheduled pit breaks, only being able to change two tires and separate gas and tire stops. On December 3, 2007, Sears announced that, at the conclusion of the 2008 season, its Craftsman brand would no longer sponsor the series. It was replaced as a sponsor by Camping World from 2009 through 2018, the Gander Outdoors Truck Series in 2019, and the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series in 2020. The series name reverted to Camping World Truck Series starting in 2021
