Canadian University (U Sports) Womens Hockey
The U Sports Hockey
is the governing body for Canadian University Womens Hockey. Women's ice hockey has been played in U Sports since the 1997-98 season, when the governing body was known as the Canadian Interuniversity Athletics Union, following a long stint of teams only competing in the OUA.

Each year a championship series is held to determine a Canadian wide university womens hockey champion. In 1978, the governing body of the league changed its name to the Canadian Interuniversity Athletics Union. The body's name was changed in 2001 to Canadian Interuniversity Sport, and most recently in 2016, to the current U Sports.
