Western Canadian Junior A Championship - Abbott Cup
Western Canadian Junior A Championship - Abbott Cup
Until 1999 the British Columbia/Alberta Interprovincial Champions and the Saskatchewan/Manitoba Interprovincial Champions played each other for the Abbott Cup. Starting in 1991, with the realignment of regions and format for the Centennial Cup, the winners of the Doyle Cup and the Anavet Cup would go straight to the National Championship competition rather than hold a separate competition for the western Abbott Cup. During the Centennial Cup (later Royal Bank Cup) national competition, the winner of the game between the Doyle Cup winner and the Anavet Cup winner would also receive the Abbott Cup. The Abbott Cup was retired after it had been awarded to the Vernon Vipers in 1999. |
Abbott Cup Winners
Until 1991 the winners of the Manitoba and Saskatchewan series advanced to the Abbott Cup. The Abbott Cup winners went on to play for the Centennial Cup.Season | Champion | Loser | Games |
